The Perana is the only Capri V8, Ford ever offerd. The car has been built in Johannesburg/South Africa by Basil Green Motors, but has been sold by Ford with a warranty for 3 months or 3000 miles.
Basil Green Motors doesn´t exist anymore, therefor there is still a lot mysterious.
A few facts: The inventor of the Perana has not been Basil Green, but Ronnie Rosin, who was the leader of the project. Basis has been the Capri 3000. The engine is a 302 Windsor V8, transmission is either a 4-speed from the Ford F 250 or Mustang or the automatic from the Mustang. Also the starter is from the F 250. The differential is from the Ford Fairlane and is from Borg Warner. The Perana got a bigger radiator and strengthened springs with 2 inch depth. The steering is out of a LHD-Capri and is not a special make, like Basil Green said. It just is turned around.
You could get the Perana in Daytona Yellow (yellow) and Piri Piri Orange (red) and perhaps a few special mades, for example Basil Green´s car was green.
Optional equipment has been High-backed bucket front seats, Slattered Miura-style rear window, Spoiler on trunk lid, Bolt-on rear aerofoil wing, Bolt-on front spoiler and Bonnet Locking pins.
Basil Green says, that only 500 Peranas have been built. Others say, that 800 have been built, and half of them have been exported to England. This seems to be wrong, as noone in England could. verify this to me.
1167 seems to be the highest known BG-number. This could mean, that 1500 have been built, what others say. But perhaps Granada Peranas (with 302-cui-Motor), Cortina Peranas (with the 3-Liter-Essex out of the Capri, a sort of recycling) and Escort Peranas (with 2-Liter-OHC) have been counted too.
So probably 430 to 500 Capri Peranas have been built.

Persons interested in buying a Capri Perana should prove, if the offered car is genuine or a fake under all circumstances. Justin will do this in South Africa, if his expenses are paid.
