From 19. May to 22. June 2002 there was another FIA Long Distance Rally, the Midnight Sun
to Red Sea Rally.
For the first time there drove classic cars against modern.
In class G Richard Martin Hurst from Great Britain and Tony Devantier from New Zealand
drove in a Ford Capri Perana.
The Rally went from Ostersund in Sweden through Poland, Slowakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria,
Turkey, Syria to Aqada in Jordan. The overall distance was about 5,300 Miles.
The Perana became champion in its class, won 2 stages and in the championship of all classes only a
(modern) Honda Integra was faster.
In an overall time of 7 hours 40 minutes and 20 seconds the Capri was just about 10 minutes
slower than the winner.
